Borderlands 2 Developer Explains Lack of Wii U Version

Gearbox Software, the developer behind the recent Borderlands 2, has explained why the game isn’t coming to the Wii U platform, despite the fact that it is currently working on a title for the new Nintendo console, in the form of Aliens: Colonial Marines.

Borderlands 2 came out back in September and delivered a great experience that attracted millions of shooter fans from all around the world on the PC, PS3, Xbox 360.

Now, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford talked with GamesMaster magazine, via Nintendo Everything, about the lack of a Wii U version for the game.

“We get asked if there is going to be a Wii U version of Borderlands,” he said. “The reason why there's not is because we couldn't think of a natural, obvious, 'OMG, I want that for what the Wii U brings to the table' feature.”

In the case of Aliens: Colonial Marines, however, the Wii U’s special GamePad offered some great innovations, which added to the immersion that’s essential to the game, so it made sense to get the game on the new console.
