Boratish Behavior Can Get Your Ass Kicked

'Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan' may kick some butts at the box office but, in real life, it's the man who gave life to the idiotic character who learned the hard way that being Borat can be, well, pretty painful.

The Cambridge-educated comedian Sascha Baron Cohen came to the Big Apple with high hopes: to promote even more the movie by doing an episode of 'Saturday Night Live', with fellow comedian Hugh Laurie. Said and done. When shooting was over, the two went for a stroll on the streets of New York and, either for the fun of it or just out of practice, Cohen forgot to strip down of all his Boratishness.

So, imitating the least favorite sons of Kazakhstan, the comedian picked on a New Yorker and told him that he wanted to have sex with his clothes. 'I like your clothes. Are nice! Please may I buying? I want have sex with it', he said, at which remark the other man began punching the uninspired comedian. When he saw that Cohen was lying on the pavement, the man started crying out for help (?).

'The Mirror' reports that, in true New York fashion, no one attended the man's cry of help, save Laurie, who came to Cohen's rescue by calming down the assailant and explaining to him that it was all just a practical joke. 'Sascha couldn't resist playing the fool as Borat, but he picked the wrong person. I guess this guy thought he was being attacked by someone unstable and lashed out. Sascha is very lucky he didn't get a much worse beating', 'The Sun' also writes, citing an unnamed source.

The comedian didn't require any medical assistance, as the injuries sustained were only superficial. But the producers and promoters of the movie have already spoken to him and asked him to behave as a normal person from now on, according to 'Monsters and Critics': 'Film bosses are pleading with Cohen, 35, to stop posing as Borat on US streets to avoid further violent attacks'.
