Borat Sued by A Man Who Didn't Even Appear in the Movie!

This is getting ridiculous, by the way...

When 20th Century Fox agreed with British comedian Sascha Baron Cohen on 'Borat: Cultural Learning of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan', it is questionable whether they took into account the fact that they would be rather spending their money in court than advertising the mockumentary.

The adventures of the wacky journalist from Kazakhstan who comes to the United States to pursue and marry Pamela Anderson and to make a documentary about the American way of life so that he would have something to show his good people at home when he goes back have caused so much controversy that the movie itself almost needs no further promotional campaigns.

First, the Romanian gypsies in whose village Cohen filmed the beginning of the movie claimed they have been literally cheated into believing that the film would help them in some way or another. They filed a lawsuit against the actor and the movie studio, asking no less than $30 millions in return for their naivety. Sadly, the judge dismissed their case.

Then, two California frat boys filed another suit, claiming the producers got them so drunk that they were hardly aware of the absurdities they said while the cameras were rolling. The two college boys added that they were basically tricked into uttering the racist and misogynistic lines that can be heard in the movie. Another judge dismissed this suit, too.

To top all that comes the mother of all lawsuits that were ever filed: a man (who does not even appear in the movie!) says he was 'accosted' by Cohen, while using the restroom of a restaurant. Posing as a bathroom attendant, the comedian spends a rather long time staring at the unnamed man while he is doing his number one but the whole footage was edited and did not run in theaters.

However, court papers say that the images did appear on the Internet and on Comedy Central, a thing that made people recognize the plaintiff and address him on the street. 'He has been contacted by numerous people who have recognized him. He is embarrassed and humiliated and leaves the restaurant.', the plaintiff's attorney said in a statement.

The man is now asking for the whole segment that shows him to be edited out of the DVD and, of course, unspecified financial damages.
