Super Grub2 Disk 2.01 Beta 2, a tool that can help users get into an operating system that has a broken bootloader, has been released and is now available for testing.

If you are a heavy desktop user, of either Windows or Linux, you might have been confronted with serious problems before, like the loss of the original bootloader. This can happen for a number of reasons. For example, the disk driver that has the bootloader crashed and you can't get access to the rest of the computer.

This is where the Super Grub2 Disk 2.01 Beta 2 tool comes into play. It's not a Linux distribution per se, but it acts almost like a Live CD GRUB system, which can be very useful sometimes.

As the name implies, this is a release based on GRUB2, which makes it all that more interesting and fun to use. It incorporates some of the cool features that are present in the new GRUB.

“GRUB2 is a complete rewrite of GRUB, and Super GRUB2 Disk is a complete rewrite as well. As Super GRUB2 Disk uses GRUB2, the differences between GRUB Legacy and GRUB2 also apply to the different versions of Super GRUB Disk,” reads the official website.

The developer of Super Grub2 Disk 2.01 Beta 2 made a few very important changes that should have a major effect on the software. For example, almost all the options have been rewritten in a library way. This will make it easier for users to update Super Grub2 Disk in the future and it's easier to provide a consistent UI that everyone can use.

Also, the Everything + option has been added, which is a little bit different from what was implemented in the previous beta. Everything + initially loads LVM, RAID, PATA, USB, and also tries to mount encrypted volumes. Super Grub2 Disk also tries to find all the bootable entries, thanks to the Everything entry.

Super Grub2 Disk 2.01 Beta 2 is a very small tool and weighs only a couple of MB. You can write it on a USB key, CD, and DVD and run it at boot.

Check the official changelog for more details about this release. You can download Super Grub2 Disk 2.01 Beta 2 from Softpedia. Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
