Vista here, Vista there, everything is just Vista nowadays. Just take a look at my colleague's articles and you'll see just how Vista-obsessed we are. Microsoft is making money with the new operating system and peripheral manufacturers want a piece of the Vista cake as well.

Here's a device from IOGEAR that makes it easy to transfer files and settings from the old, but still used, Windows XP to Windows Vista. It supposedly exploits a recent feature in Vista, namely the Windows Easy Transfer.

Smartlink Transfer Cable is a USB 2.0 host-to-host link adapter allowing you to migrate files and settings from an existing computer running Windows XP or Windows Vista to another new computer running Windows Vista.

"Upgrading to Vista is practically inevitable
as laptops and PCs continue to enter the market with the operating system already installed. IOGEAR is aiming to relieve the stress associated with this transition with our Smartlink Transfer Cable," said Miranda Su, vice president of sales and marketing at IOGEAR.

IOGEAR says that no additional driver and software are required on Windows Vista. With the adapter, priced at $29.95, in conjunction with Windows Easy Transfer, users can transfer user accounts, files and program settings directly from one PC to another without having to transfer the files to intermediary data storage.

Here's a list of the features

Works with Windows Easy Transfer
Supports Windows Vista and XP
No additional driver and software required on Windows Vista
Easy file sharing and data transfer between two PCs via USB port
Full compliance with USB Specification Version 2.0 and 1.1
Supports data transfer rate of up to 480 Mbps
Supports suspend and resume power management features
Supports two-way data transfer
Bus powered from either USB port
Suitable for laptop PC and SOHO environment

Disk On Module

And since we're talking about Vista, you might want to take a look at the Disk On Module from PQI. This device plugging directly into the motherboard uses Vista's ReadyBoost feature to increase performance of the resource-hungry operating system. The Disk on Module is available in capacities ranging between 512MB and 2GB, the biggest capacity being priced at around $67.

You see, you can't talk about Microsoft's OS without saying "Vista" in every sentence. It's a must!

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
