Global Delight has released Boom, a cheap Mac app that provides a very simple interface and several options to boost the audio capabilities of your Mac, whether it’s a desktop system, or a portable one.

At first glance, Boom looks no different than all the other sound-booster apps out there, but once you go through the options, you quickly realize Boom is a state-of-the-art sound enhancer.

The app comes complete with a built-in standard equalizer (with band and arcane numbers), and a tool that ‘boosts’ individual audio files.

Described as a simple one-click volume booster application, Boom can greatly boost the volume of your Mac for a better audio experience.

Users can also set a hotkey to toggle the volume rapidly and conveniently.

The app becomes visibly useful, or should we say “audibly” useful while playing games, watching movies, watching online videos on YouTube, listening to music, and also during Skype calls.

"We often complain about the low volume issues of our laptops, iPod and iPhone. Headphones are not useful when in a group,” said Rahul Shetty, product manager of Global Delight.

“Other solutions like external speakers are not always portable or desired. Boom then becomes quite a handy utility. It can greatly boost the volume of everything your Mac plays and even boost your music files,” Rahul added.

According to Global Delight, Boom makes life easier for Mac users because it boosts the audio output of the entire system, rather than focusing on individual applications.

Boom requires Mac OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard) or later and any Intel or PowerPC-based Mac (Universal Binary app).

A single-user license costs USD 4.99, but Mac owners can immediately download a free copy and take Boom for a spin for a full week to see how it works for them.
