BoomBox, an audio player with built-in database for easy browsing of local music files, has just reached version 0.4.4.

BoomBox has no playlist; instead, it simply plays songs from current search results. These queries can be saved to give you something like "dynamic playlists." The application also has support for queuing up songs to be played, replacing much of the need for a playlist.

According to the developers, kdeinit is now used for a faster app startup, alternating background colors are now used in the filesystem view, and the track length and current position is now displayed correctly on the mpris2 remote control apps.

Check the official changelog for more details about this release. Download BoomBox 0.4.4 right now from Softpedia.

Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
