Success on the Nintendo Wii has been something of a mystery to many third-party developers and publishers, as it seems that the user install base is only interested in video games that come straight from Nintendo itself.
But Electronic Arts is beginning to achieve such a thing, as it has a number of decent selling franchises on the small console. One of them is Boom Blox, which was the fruit of the collaboration between the large company and reputed Hollywood producer
Steven Spielberg.
The head of EA Bright Light, the studio that was responsible for the first two titles, Harvey Elliott, revealed that in the future we might see the series on other platforms, not only on the Wii. But don't think that the shift will happen anytime soon, as the executive did state that, for the time being, the Wii is a great console and is a perfect hit for the game.
“I wouldn't rule anything out, never say never,” Elliott revealed. “Why I think Boom Blox has really worked is that it captured the spirit of the Wii. It's about the motion control, it's about throwing a ball or throwing an object. I can't imagine that on other devices at the moment. There's something very physical about it. Right now I'm really proud that it's stayed focused on the Wii and I think it's the right thing. Who knows for the future.”
Whether or not the supposed
third title in the Boom Blox series will appear on other platforms besides the Wii is still anybody's guess though, but, with other franchises like No More Heroes gaining fans on the Wii then announcing that they will appear on other platforms, Boom Blox may soon follow the trend. Until then, the Wii is still the only console for it.
