With the e-reader market on the rise, it is no surprise to hear that companies from all over the world are bent on joining the fray, and an outfit based in Paris, Bookeen by name, has just revealed its own model, the Cybook Orizon, which should start shipping in October.

E-readers may have started out as single-purpose devices meant only for reading books, but they have since gained other capabilities.

The Cybook Orizon definitely has a more or less, full range of features packed inside its 189.8 (H) x 125.7 (W) x 7.6 (D) mm frame.

For one, the electronic boasts a 6-inch, touch-enabled grayscale SiPix e-paper display whose native resolution is of 800 x 600 pixels.

The device also comes with 2GB of built-in storage onto which 150 books are already pre-loaded when the purchase is done.

There is also a micro-SD card slot, for extra storage space, plus support for ePUB and PDF files, as well as the necessary connectivity and I/O options.

The list includes a mini USB 2.0 ports and wireless connectivity via Bluetooth 2.1 and 802. 11 b/g/n WiFi.

“Cybook Orizon represents the new generation of ebook readers,” states the official product page.

“Cybook Orizon offers a sleek design, thin, robust and lightweight, imagined for mobile reading,” the page adds.

All of these components and features are crammed inside a package that weighs only 245 grams, though availability has not yet been reached.

In fact, the newcomer won't actually come out until sometime next month, when it should finally reach European stores with a price tag of 230 Euro.

What remains to be seen is how well this device fares during the holiday shopping season that is just about two months away.

Those interested in a first-hand view of the specifications and all other information on this electronic need only visit the official website.
