Bombastic was developed by Shift for publisher Majesco Inc. It was launched in 2003
for only one gaming platform, the Sony made PlayStation 2. It is classified as being an action strategy title, played from an isometric perspective, with a lot of elements of puzzle solving mixed in the gameplay.

Bombastic is based on the premise that you have to clear a field of explosive dice (strange concept, but we all know that the dice are loaded). If you want to set the dice off, you need to roll the top face of the die that you're standing on next to the same number of interconnected dice with the same face. There is a period of time after which the dice explode. As they this happens, all the dice that are close to the explosion place and which have the same or a lower figure will also be set off.

The main idea is not to stay on any dice long enough to get engulfed in the explosion, as this will make you lose the game.

Bombastic offers a variety of modes in which to play the game. There's a Trial Mode, in which you need to play through 100 levels. Story Mode requires you to progress through stages trying to solve preset puzzles and fight bosses in the meantime. There's also Battle Mode, in which you get to play against four other players. And then, there's the Devil Dice mode, which will make the dice go into the ground.
