The Rolling Stones had to interrupt their concert at the University of Virginia's Scott Stadium in Charlottesville because of a bomb-threat phone call.
According to the University spokeswoman Carol Wood, "word was got to Mick Jagger and he announced that the band would take a 10-minute break".
Police officers and three bomb-sniffing dogs searched the stage and about the first 20 rows of spectators, that have been cleared until they finished their work, but found nothing.
The University, state and city police had no available comments upon the incident in Charlottesville and no announcements were made to the audience about the reason for the break.
The band returned on stage after 30 minutes, as over 50,000 fans had been applauding them.
The Rolling Stones have played past midnight to complete the concert, which was the first of only two campus stops on their tour, with the second at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, which will take place on Saturday night.
The two shows are the only ones featuring special guest Trey Anastasio, the former Phish front man, in the opening act.
