One of the few browsers that manage to bring on mobile phones the same Internet experience that you met on desktop computers, Bolt seems to be the main rival of the well-known Opera Mini browser. Developed by the Bitstream company, Bolt is also the only J2ME browser that supports streaming video from YouTube, MySpace and Google. It also features integrated support for Twitter and Facebook, which enables users to directly post their messages on any of these social-network platforms.

But the most important trait of the software is the fact it can be installed on more than 75% of the actual number of mobile phones that are functioning now in the world. Compatibility with J2ME or BREW/BMP made this browser one of the easiest to install and use.

For those that own a more advanced handset, turning the image displayed to landscape or portrait mode will be much easier, as the software will not reload the page and the transition will be made very smoothly. Users will also be able to choose between the mobile and desktop viewing of the webpages.

Even though desktop viewing will render pages exactly as on the PC, that usually asks for more time and, thus, more costs with the data-transfer charges, but this is not the case with Bolt. The application can compress all the data received over-the-air by up to 24:1, which seems to be about two times better than its competitor. This translates in faster page loading and less time and its being less money consuming.
Other highlights of Bold include: Split-Screen Mode, Localization, Tabbed browsing, Streaming media support, Widgets, Copy/Paste function, Auto-Complete support, Pop-up blocking, Click to Call, Password manager, RSS Feeds. Furthermore, the Bold browser can be downloaded and used for free, without any required registration.
