Boingo Wireless, the Los Angeles-based company specialized in Wi-Fi software and services, has announced that its Boingo Roaming Network now includes more than 1,100 new hotspots from across Switzerland. The hotspots are owned by Swisscom, the largest mobile carrier in the Central European country, and include airports, hotels, train stations and so on.

Thanks to the partnership with Swisscom, Boingo's coverage across Switzerland includes most of the country's airports (Zurich, Lugano, Geneva, Engadin, Sion, Bern-Belp and so on). Furthermore, a good number of the Railway and RailCity stations are covered, together with more than 575 hotels (including Best Western, Mövenpick, Seehotel, ArabellSheraton, Sorell and Ramada). Starbucks and Coop Restaurants are also on Boingo's Swiss list.

"With the importance of Switzerland for business travelers – and the appeal of the country for adventurers – the addition of Swisscom hotspots to Boingo's network brings new hot spots to our members as they travel Switzerland. No matter where or how you travel in Switzerland, Europe or the world, Boingo keeps you connected to high-speed networks," stated Luis Serrano, vice president of network strategy at Boingo Wireless.

Tommy Bertling, senior product manager of Swisscom, added, "Swisscom is committed to bringing an excellent user experience to its customers and partners by providing Internet access no matter where you are in Switzerland. The partnership with Boingo enables subscribers to use the Boingo Wi-Fi offering at Swisscom hotspots when traveling in Switzerland."

Switzerland might not be a big country, but it's surely an attractive destination for tourists from around the world. Its natural landscapes (dominated by the Alps), its cities and infrastructure make the small and landlocked Switzerland one of the most sought-after European countries.

Boingo offers Wi-Fi coverage in 90 countries, via more than 150 major Wi-Fi operators. The Boingo Roaming Network is comprised of 100,000+ hotspots and the company recently announced that it had extended the list of mobile devices supported, now including Sony Ericsson's UIQ 3 smartphones too.
