Fake password reset notifications that purport to come from Electronic Business Center (EBC) have been spotted in inboxes these days. The bogus emails are designed to spread malware.

Entitled “Password Reset Confirmation,” the messages read something like this: “Your Online Bankking password was successfully changed on 07/05/2013. If you did not make this change, or if you have any questions, please contact EBC Technical Support using this link.”

The link points to a legitimate hacked website that redirects victims to a domain set up to serve malware.

According to Conrad Longmore of Dynamoo’s Blog, this appears to be another spam run launched by the cybercriminal group that he has dubbed the “Amerika crew.”

Amerika is believed to be a Russian group that’s responsible for numerous malware-spreading spam campaigns.

If you come across such emails, don’t click on the links contained in them.
