Howard K. Stern, currently facing charges for enabling late Anna Nicole Smith’s drug use, together with certified doctors that were treating the star, is now being slammed by the company of a bodyguard he recently sued. Jax Desmond Worldwide is speaking out in the defense of Mark Speer, whom Stern accused of making false statements for Rita Cosby’s bio, “Blonde Ambition: The Untold Story Behind Anna Nicole Smith’s Death.”

The security company was contacted by the attorney of Larry Birkhead, Anna Nicole Smith’s lover and father of her daughter, and thus Mark Speer came into contact with the couple and, implicitly, Stern. Cosby, a former NBC journalist, published the bio after Smith’s death and included the conclusion of her talks with Speer as well in it, wherefrom Stern’s accusations, who also filed a lawsuit against the bodyguard. Now, the security company is speaking in behalf of his employee in a press statement released for Softpedia.

“Mr. Speer is nothing but an honest and dedicated professional. He is one of our top agents and we will stand behind him throughout this ordeal.” Jax Desmond, chairman and CEO of Jax Desmond Worldwide, tells us. Moreover, it’s more likely that Stern is trying to sully Speer’s reputation than the other way around, the CEO says. “I’m not sure that Mark is capable of lying or deceit. We’re very proud of Mark who has chosen to follow his morals which is unfortunately very uncommon in our industry.” Mr. Desmond explains.

Sascha Forst, a spokesperson for the company, also echoes the sentiment, in a statement released to us. “We believe it is our responsibility to support our employees who are dragged into litigation by fearful criminals who simply don’t want the truth to be told. We recognize and want to assist with the very real and oftentimes worrisome burdens that can be placed on our agents who simply end up in positions outside of their realm of control.” Mr. Forst reveals.

The Anna Nicole Smith saga has been unfolding at rapid speed ever since the glamour model and budding actress was found dead of an overdose on February 8, 2007. Even then, it was speculated that Howard K. Stern, her former attorney and lover, had some form of involvement in her tragic passing away, but nothing had been proven until just recently, when he was booked for enabling Smith’s drug use in a case that is now pending charges.
