Bodhi, a minimalistic Linux operating system based on Ubuntu and which has really low requirements, has reached version 3.0.0 Beta.

The Bodhi Linux systems are known for their minimalistic approach, and the current release is no different. The distribution was based from the get-go on Ubuntu 14.04, but the development of Bodhi started when Ubuntu 14.04 was still a Beta release. Now that the final version of Ubuntu has been released, Bodhi is ready to switch to Beta.

“It's been two months since we had our alpha release and since then Ubuntu 14.04 has released as ‘stable.’ That means the core for our upcoming Bodhi 3.0.0 release is finally stable enough for me to stamp a ‘beta’ label onto it,” reads the announcement from the developer.

According to the changelog, leafpad has been replaced with epad as the default text editor, eepDater has been added, the default theme has been updated, the compositing effects have been disabled, and the Bodhi menu entry has been added.

A complete list of changes can be found in the official announcement. You can download Bodhi 3.0.0 Beta right now from Softpedia.

Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
