Bodhi Linux 1.1.0 has been released to bring the available ISOs up to date with the latest packages available in the repositories. Along with the usual fixes and tweaks, Bodhi Linux 1.1.0 comes with a new kernel and a recent Enlightenment build.

There is also some updated artwork, a new boot splash and login image has been added and five new Enlightenment themes are now available.

"Two months after our 1.0.0 release the Bodhi team and I are proud to announce the availability of Bodhi Linux 1.1.0. This is the first of our quarterly scheduled update releases to keep the software on the Bodhi live CD current," Jeff Hoogland announced.

Updated packages in Bodhi Linux 1.1.0 include:

Included in the ISO image: · Linux Kernel 2.6.39; · Enlightenment SVN Build from 05/23/11; · Intel 2.15 Drivers; · Midori 0.3.6.

In the repository: · Firefox 4.0.1; · Chromium Browser 11; · nVidia Driver 270.41.

Along with the updated boot splash image, five new themes are included: Ambient, Boox, Elegant, LG2 and Moonlight.

"In terms of functionality, this update brings changes to two profiles. The first is the Tablet/Netbook profile. The main changes you will notice in this profile is an updated ELFE launcher and the removal of the bottom bar," the announcement explained.

Bodhi Linux 1.1.0, which is based on Ubuntu, but uses the light-weight Enlightenment window manager along with light package such as the PCManFM file manager and the Midori browser, is a perfect fit on netbooks or even tablets, which are generally underpowered.

"A slightly larger change is that the Ecomorph (Compiz) profile has been replaced with a 'Compositing' profile. This profile uses E's built in compositing manager to render effects," another change was.

This means that effects will work on older computers as well, since Enlightenment's composition manager can use software acceleration, meaning the CPU does all the work, along with hardware acceleration.
