On January 31, 2015, Whitney Houston’s only child, her daughter with ex-husband Bobby Brown, Bobbi Kristina (Krissi), was found unresponsive in her Georgia home, having been submerged in the water in her bathtub for anywhere between 5 to 10 minutes.

She was revived on the scene and rushed to the hospital, where she was immediately put into a medically induced coma. She has been moved from the hospital to a rehabilitation center, but reportedly showed no signs of progress. Her dad is giving all her supporters fresh hope.

“Bobbi Kristina is awake”

Because of contractual obligations, Bobby Brown resumed touring, after taking the time out to be by his daughter’s side. Sometime last week, he spoke about her condition with the fans, on stage, in very disheartening terms, hinting that there had been no improvement to her condition.

Last night, he performed at the Verizon Theater in Grand Prairie, TX, and hinted to the contrary, as you can see in the video below.

“Bobbi is awake,” he said, to wild cheering from the crowd. The fans thought he had just confirmed that she’d woken from the coma, which could only mean that she was finally on the road to recovery.

The cheering and the loud applause almost drowned his next words out completely. “She’s watching me,” Bobby added, which could mean that he’s not really confirming any positive development, but only saying that his daughter is present in spirit.

A family torn by tragedy

Last month, Cissy Houston, Krissi’s grandmother and Whitney Houston’s mother, gave the first interview since the tragedy and made it very clear: everyone was praying for Krissi because only a miracle could save her now.

She also said that, whatever happened, she would be at peace because she knew this was God’s will; whether Krissi woke up or left them for good, it was all “alright” by Cissy.

Hers were the words of a woman who had already lived through a similar experience, this time as a mother, because, just 3 years before Krissi’s near-drowning, Whitney lost her life in eerily similar circumstances.

The difference was that Whitney died of a drug overdose, while foul play is suspected in her daughter’s accident. The person of interest in the ongoing investigation is Nick Gordon, whom Whitney took in and raised as her own son - and Krissi’s brother.

The two became romantically involved after the singer’s death and even boasted of having gotten married in secret, which, Bobby clarified this year, never happened. He is now in rehab for drug and alcohol issues, but before checking in, he gave an interview to Dr. Phil trying (but not really succeeding) to assert his innocence.
