He didn't want to cause a scene, he says in statement sent out to the media

Bobby Brown, Whitney Houston's ex-husband, did not spend half an hour in the church where she received one final tribute before the funeral ceremony over the weekend. He says he left to prevent causing a scene.

As we also noted earlier today, Bobby walked out of the ceremony shortly after arriving with an entourage of 9, even though all the invitations were “plus one.”

Reports online said that he was upset he didn't get front-row seats, while others claimed that he wasn't seated with the family, which bothered him in particular.

In a statement sent out to the media and cited by ThatGrapeJuice, Brown says the issue was not with the seating, but rather with the way he was treated by security staff.

He and his kids were the only ones asked to move repeatedly, up to the point where it became clear to them that they were not welcome at the ceremony.

So, because he wanted to prevent a scene, he simply chose to walk out.

“My children and I were invited to the funeral of my ex-wife Whitney Houston. We were seated by security and then subsequently asked to move on three separate occasions,” he says.

“I fail to understand why security treated my family this way and continue to ask us and no one else to move. Security then prevented me from attempting to see my daughter Bobbi-Kristina. In light of the events, I gave a kiss to the casket of my ex-wife and departed as I refused to create a scene,” the singer adds.

“My children are completely distraught over the events. This was a day to honor Whitney. I doubt Whitney would have wanted this to occur. I will continue to pay my respects to my ex-wife the best way I know how,” he further says.

Later, after the ceremony, in a concert in the same town, Bobby said a few words about Whitney.

However, the entire incident is believed to have caused even more anguish to Bobbi Kristina, his daughter with the late diva, who is already struggling hard to cope with her mother's death.

Because of this and the ceremony itself, Bobbi Kristina went missing after the ceremony – and is believed to have ran away for a while to do drugs.
