Troublesome and troubled husband of Whitney Houston, Bobby Brown was reunited with the New Edition soul band that he left in 1980 in pursue of a solo career. During the Essence Music Festival, that took place on Sunday in Houston, Brown was supposed to play two songs with the rest of the members from his former band, but proved himself incapable of thinking of another person but of himself. Or of thinking at all!
While the other five singers (including Johnny Gill, who took Bobby's place) performed the songs and, at the same time, went through a slick dance routine, Brown began dancing and making obscene moves right there on the scene. When he finished, he went backstage only to return a few minutes later to 'enchant' the audience with some of his solo hits.
He began by singing 'Don't Be Cruel' and then continued doing the raunchy dance, in a deadly combination with dirty-talk about his sex life with Whitney. When he finished performing 'My Prerogative', the heated soul-entertainer was shirtless and sweaty and the public, not being able to endure more, was booing him off the stage.
Talk about a comeback in style...
