Activision Publishing, through its president, Michael Griffith, has announced that its upcoming racer,
Blur, is set to arrive on the PlayStation 3, the Xbox 360 and the PC sometime in November.
The game, which has been described by Activision as doing for racing what Call of Duty has done for shooters, is also set to come with some interesting pre-order bonuses, which vary depending on where you plan to get the videogame. Blur marks Activision's attempt to marry the graphics of hardcore racing titles with the fun quotient of more arcade racers.
The most interesting offer comes from retail giant GameStop that is advertising a Multiplayer Advantage Booster Kit. It comes with an unlocked Ford Bronco for multiplayer games, a whole new game mode called Survival and a chance to double the number of fans for the first ten multiplayer races on which the game takes place (having more fans directly translates into getting more cash and better car upgrades).
If
Blur is pre-ordered at GameCrazy, the player gets double the amount of money from winning the first three races they enter in Blur, while an order made at Best Buy nets an unlock code offering them a chance to race using the Dodge Hennessey Viper, giving them a big advantage in the initial stages of the release.
When Blur was initially announced, the description was of Forza Motorsport meeting Mario Kart. The idea was to blend powerful real world cars, depicted in full graphics glory, with fun gameplay mechanics and a variety of power-ups that can be used again other players. Gamers can get deployable mines, speed boosts, lightning strikes and winning is as much about making sure you get ahead as is about evading the above mentioned threats. The mayhem begins in November.
