The release of Bluewhite64 Linux 12.1 LiveDVD was announced by Attila Craciun. Bluewhite64 Linux is a port of Slackware Linux to the x86_64 architecture, that offers advanced features and improved performance. Besides the LiveDVD, a LiveUSB version is also available.

The LiveDVD uses the SMP Linux kernel 2.6.24.7 for improved stability and performance. It is designed to offer a modern system on AMD64 and EM64T architectures, with the modularized X.org 1.4.0.90 and Compiz, so you can enjoy some beautiful desktop effects and in order to make your operating system much easier to use. The desktop environment used for this release is KDE 3.5.9 with more than 65 languages included, OpenOffice 2.3, Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.14 with Flash support and KDE's Konqueror web browser that has also support for Java and Flash.

To send and receive e-mail, you have Mozilla Thunderbird 2.0.0.12 and KMail 1.9.9. The package managers included in Bluewhite64 12.1 LiveDVD are Swaret and Qtswaret 0.1.5-3. For digital photo management, you have digiKam. Krusader 1.90.0 Twin Panel File Manager, MPlayer 1.0rc2 media player, IA32 emulation for running 32-bit applications are also included. aMSN 0.97, a clone of MSN Messenger, will allow you to keep in touch with your friends and family (of course, if they use MSN).

The LiveUSB edition was created to run from a USB Flash Pen Drive, and allows the user to choose the working environment from the beginning, be it text mode (Command Line Interface - CLI) or graphical mode (Graphical User Interface - GUI), which is recommended for desktop computers. One of the features improved on the Bluewhite64 12.1 Flash is "save changes," which is now also enabled by default.
