Bluetooth used to be just another one of those rare things consumer electronics sometimes had, but now they are common in lots of gadgets and, with BT Smart picking up steam, soon it will be strange if a device doesn't have Bluetooth support.

In fact, the rising adoption of Bluetooth Smart ICs was noted by market analyst firm IHS (iSuppli).

Bluetooth Smart integrated circuits can automatically pair electronics (if they both have them) and have much lower power draw then classic BT.

And with Bluetooth 4 being more than fast enough for all operations, it makes sense that it would be adopted better than ever.

Thus, according to IHS, BT Smart ICs will rise by a cumulative factor of 10 (CAGR of 55%) in annual shipments by 2018, to 300 million.

More importantly, in 2013, shipments grew 250% compared to 2012 (30 million vs. 9 million). As I said, soon even shoes and clothes will wirelessly connect with, well, everything else.
