Bluebox, the security firm that brought to light the existence of the “master key” vulnerability that affects most Android devices, has launched a free Security Scanner app that allows users to check if their devices have been patched.

Google and the developers of CyanogenMod have patched the flaw, and some OEMs have also started working on a fix. However, many Android customers might want to learn if their devices are impacted.

The Bluebox Security Scanner does just that. In addition, the application also allows Android users to check if any malicious programs that exploit this vulnerability have been installed on their devices.

“The scanner will save you significant time and keep you from having to do the ‘leg work’ to figure out if your device has been safely patched. If your device has not been patched, it will provide you with the information you need to ask your device manufacturer when a fix will be available,” Bluebox explained.
