Doctors and scientists have long been telling us to up our daily intake of fruits and vegetables. Provided that we want to stay healthy and fit, that is.

Anyway, it looks like, when it comes to staving off type 2 diabetes, some fruits are better than others.

Researchers in the UK, the US, and Singapore (yes, I know it's quite a crowd, which is probably why we should listen to them) now say that blueberries, grapes, and apples reduce the risk for said medical condition by as much as 23%.

This decrease in diabetes risk was recorded in the case of people who consumed at least two servings of these fruits on a weekly basis, sources report.

Other fruits such as peaches, plums, bananas, and apricots were also found to lower diabetes risk. However, they were by no means as effective as blueberries, grapes, and apples.

What is interesting is that fruit juice, by comparison to whole fruits, ups type 2 diabetes risk by as much as 21%.
