Blue Coat Systems has acquired Norman Shark for an undisclosed amount. Blue Coat says the move will bring together its own business assurance technology with Norman’s zero-day sandboxing and malware analysis solutions.

By acquiring Norman, Blue Coat gains not only new technology, but also a team of researchers and malware analysis experts.

Blue Coat already integrates Norman Shark technology into its Malware Analysis Appliance for sandboxing.

This is the third acquisition announced by Blue Coat this year. In May, the company acquired Netronome SSL technology, and big data security intelligence and analytics company Solera Networks.

“Integration of the Norman Shark technology with the Blue Coat Content Analysis System and Security Analytics Platform delivers a solution that protects against zero-day threats before, during and after an attack by detecting, analyzing, blocking, resolving and fortifying the network against unknown and latent threats,” noted Greg Clark, CEO of Blue Coat Systems.
