The manufacturer didn't disclose the prices for the upcoming movies

After assisting to so many Blu-ray dedicated products launches and to most of all the dazzling moments when hearing the prices recommended by the manufacturers, here comes a good news delivered today by Sony Pictures, informs Digital Media Thoghts.

Media has much written about the subject, estimating that the recent released movies will be purchased on the retail market at prices starting at least $40.

However, Sony has surprised all technology editors and specialists when releasing its latest movie 'Terminator' at $11.99 on Amazon. This is the cheapest movie on sale on Amazon, but even the rest don't score so high. Consequently, other catalog films such as 'The 5th Element' and 'House of Flying Daggers' are available for $19.99, and 'Underworld: Evolution' is a merely $26.99, if we are to consider the high definition capabilities.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (SPHE) has launched the up mentioned high-definition movies only two days ago.

More precisely, the titles released are '50 First Dates', 'The Fifth Element', 'Hitch', 'House of Flying Daggers', 'The Terminator', 'Underworld: Evolution', and 'XXX'.

Next week, Ultraviolet will be the studio's first Blu-ray title released at the same time as the DVD-only version. SPHE plans to release four catalog titles each month, and, by the fourth quarter of 2006, the company expects to be releasing up to ten titles per month.

As you probably already know, there is a war going on featuring Blu-ray and HD DVD formats, the first being backed especially by Sony, and the other by Toshiba. Consequently, it was only normal for Sony to augment its Blu-ray market leadership after it has already released a Blu-ray enabled notebook and has also a future to come player and the most expected Sony product - the PlayStation 3.
