Approximately two weeks ago, Dell was first rumored to be planning the release of its very own MacBook Air competitor, a product currently known as the Adamo. Since then, a number of speculations have been made on the supposed technical specifications of Dell's upcoming portable computer system. However, the latest bunch of rumors appear to the be the most interesting as they claim that the Adamo will be capable of providing its customers with a rather unique feature that Apple's MacBook Air currently lacks. More specifically, the Adamo will be featured with a built-in optical drive.

Since the first rumors emerged, regarding the Adamo, the product has already been confirmed by one of the company's representatives. The Round Rock, Texas-based company is now expected to unveil the laptop as early as 2009, most likely at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, which will take place after Apple's highly anticipated Macworld Expo in 2009.

Recent details over the Internet appear to suggest that one of the key features of the upcoming Dell Adamo laptop is its support for a built-in optical drive. What is probably even more interesting is that the Adamo is actually expected to come out with a Blu-ray device, which has been suggested by a Google cache of the information on Dell's own site.

Also, the purported MacBook Air competitor could potentially boast a DisplayPort for video and eSATA connectors for additional storage. That alone makes the Adamo a MacBook Air alternative, worth taking in consideration.

Said laptop is expected to come out with a starting price tag close to $1500, which is a good $300 better than what you currently need to pay for Apple's cheapest MacBook Air. The system is expected to begin shipping as early as February next year, but that is yet to be confirmed.
