Blu’s smartphones are quite affordable for the average user

US smartphone manufacturer Blu which named itself “the market leader in unlocked devices in the United States” has taken the veil off a slew of 7 new Android devices.

These are moderately specced handsets with wallet-friendly price tags, but some of them do bundle some interesting feats you will probably enjoy to have onboard. Let's take them one at the time and see what's what.

Blu Vivo Air

This device will launch in retail in mid-January, as the thinnest handset in North America, coming with a 5.1 mm / 0.2 inches frame.

But there are other extremely sleek handsets in the world, introduced by Chinese manufacturers that top Blu.

For example, the Oppo R5 is only 4.85 mm / 0.19 inches thick, while the Vivo X5 max boasts a 4.75 mm / 0.18 inches frame.

The handset arrives with a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution and with a 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor on the inside. It runs Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.

Blu also throws in 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, two cameras (8MP on the back and 5MP up in front). The handset will be sold unlocked for $199 / €167.

Blu Studio Energy

Moving on, we have the Studio Energy which has a 5-inch (720p) display and a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor on the inside fitted with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage.

The biggest selling point of the Studio Energy is its massive 5000 mAh battery which, Blu says, will last up to four days and offer 52 hours of talk time.

The long-lasting Studio Energy will become available in late January for $179 / €150.

Blu Studio X and Studio X Plus

These two models feature 5-inch and 5.5-inch 720p displays respectively and rely on a quad-core 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6582 processor combined with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage (expandable). They also have an 8MP rear camera.

The Blu Studio X will sell for $129 / €108, while the Studio X Plus can be yours for $149 / €125.

Blu Studio G

This is the lowest of the Blu lineup. The handset has a 5-inch display with a silly 854 x 480 pixel resolution, a quad-core 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6582 processor combined with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory (expandable)

The Blu Studio G will sell for only $89 / €75.

Blue Life One and Blue Life One XL

Don’t like MediaTek? Blu is offering the 64-bit quad-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 chips for the two models mentioned above.

The two devices take advantage of 5-inch and 5.5-inch 720p displays respectively. Blu also throws in 1GB of RAM, 8GB of expandable storage, LTE and two cameras (13MP main one and 5MP on the back).

The Blu Life One will be marketed for $179 / €151, while the Blu Life One XL can be yours for $199 / €167. Both will arrive in March.

Blu says that the Studio X, Studio XL, Studio G, Life One and Life One XL will get the Android 5.0 Lollipop. Really? Even the Blu Studio G? That strikes us a little bit odd, especially since there’s no mention of the Vivo Air receiving the new build.

Anyway, it seems the handsets will be marketed via Amazon. What do you think?
