AOpen says yes

Recently, an AOpen representative has declared that the first drives able to read Blu-Ray discs will be included in computers starting this November (only the Asians will have access to them first). Still, this contradicts the statements made by the Blu-Ray Disc Association officials, who had stated that the Blu-Ray discs would appear next month, at best.

For now, no prices have been announced for these Blu-Ray compatible drives, but we can only expect them to be exaggerated, similar to those of the DVDs, when they first entered the market.

And even if you are willing to spend an important sum of money to purchase the latest technology, you won't have too much of a content to run on your new drive.

The Blu-Ray discs and the high definition movies are also difficult to find, over the last months, the majority of disc producers presenting only their prototypes, which are not mass produced yet.

Panasonic, another supporter of the Blu-Ray technology, has also announced, a while ago, that in the spring of 2006, it will launch the first Blu-Ray drives for desktops and notebooks. Considering that two of Blu-Ray's main supporters have already announced the imminent launching of compatible drives, we can only assume that the Blu-Ray consortium has solved all of its technological issues.
