Bloody Roar 3 is a title developed by studio Eighting Co. Ltd. for publisher Activision and released way back in 2001

only for the PlayStation 2 gaming platform from Sony. An action fighting game played from a third person perspective, with various side scrolling elements, Bloody Roar 3 has two prequels and two sequels released - only the latter are still available.

The game offers twelve gameplay modes including the usual Arcade mode and a Versus mode that pits different fighters against one another in arena matches. There's also a Practice mode that helps you get familiar with the game but the interesting highlight is the Survival mode, where the player has to combat opponents and destroy as many of them as possible before he loses his own health. There are also eight other gameplay modes accessible once you unlock them.

The main gameplay mechanic that differentiates the game from other side scrolling fighting ones is the fact that the character you control as well as the enemies might, at any point, transform into a beast that can inflict a lot of damage to the enemy and also gets more cool combos.

Taking its cue from Dead or Alive 2, which was launched shortly before the game was code complete, Bloody Roar 3 introduces the concept of breakable landscapes that can also be used to hurt the enemies.

UNLOCKABLES

Sudden death survival mode

Survive nine fights in survival mode to unlock this option. In this mode, one hit kills you or your opponent in survival mode.

Survival ranking

Win 100 matches in survival mode as all characters wins put together. Your name will appear in the survival ranking as the character you completed survival mode with.

Super difficulty

Successfully complete Arcade mode once without continuing to unlock this option. In this mode, the CPU opponent is set on the highest difficulty and you are in survival mode.

No blocking mode

Get first place in arcade mode to unlock this option. In this mode, you and your opponent cannot guard with the exception of the guard moves in survival and versus modes.
