Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is the new title created by Koji Igarashi, the director of the first Castlevania title, and it seems that this might be the new video game project that takes the Kickstarter crowdfunding platform by storm.

A few hours after it has gone live, the official Kickstarter campaign shows that the title is close to going over its initial target of 500,000 dollars (450,000 Euro), although a relatively small number of backers have pledged their support.

The official announcement suggests that Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is already being worked on by a small team and the money raised will be used to expand the core vision and make sure that the experience delivers the quality that fans expect.

The new title will use classic Castlevania mechanics but an entirely new fictional universe, which can be seen in the limited number of images released by the developers so far.

Stretch goals have already been announced, running up to 850,000 dollars (760,000 Euro), and they include voice work from David Hayter and the possibility of launching the title on disk.

At the moment, it is unclear when Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is set to be launched if the Kickstarter effort is successful, and it seems that the team is targeting the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4 and the PC.

The development team working on the title is the same one linked to the Might No. 9 project announced by Keiji Inafune.

Crowdfunding is getting some twists in the new campaign

Igarashi is also announcing that, in order to promote his title, he is adding special achievements for all backers.

They can create their own fan art, or they can post about Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night on social media in order to get access to special items in the game.

They can be used to tweak the way gameplay works and to get access to more backer rewards, which is an interesting way of making sure that backers will try and talk about the game they are supporting.

The soundtrack for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will be created by Michiru Yamane, and it seems that more voice actors will be announced at a later date.

It will be interesting to see how much money the Igarashi project manages to get when its Kickstarter campaign ends on June 13.
