Bloodied and Injured Eminem Does VMAs 2010 Promo

This year’s MTV Video Music Awards will undoubtedly be dominated by Lady Gaga and Eminem, who also happen to have the most nominations. It makes sense then for MTV to use Em for a brand new promo video for the awards.

Eminem has made a full comeback with this year’s “Recovery,” which not only confirmed that he was never really gone from the music scene, but also catapulted him farther than he’d ever been before.

“Recovery” was named the best-selling debut of 2010, while the singles lifted off it managed to climb charts all over the world, remaining at the top for many consecutive weeks.

Aside from being at the VMAs to reap the praises and collect awards, Eminem will also be performing during the awards ceremony. The latest promo also hints at that, as AceShowbiz also notes.

The video sees Em in a red hoodie, which makes him stand out from the crowd, involved in a serious car crash. But, despite of how this may look, it’s not the end of him, quite on the contrary.

The rapper gets up from under the car and, to everyone’s amazement, slowly and painfully moves away from the wreckage, just seconds before it explodes.

Then, with a visible limp, a bloodied face and presumably in a lot of pain, Em proceeds to lead those who’d witnessed the accident towards the Nokia Theater, where the 2010 VMAs will take place.

“This might be a visualization of what Eminem has been through lately. He has battled drug addiction among other woes and he made it through the ups and downs with his loyal fans supporting him,” AceShowbiz says.

“They tell me that it’s something for the VMAs, but I’ve been in my little rat hole. They just let me out to play,” Eminem explains about the latest promo featuring him.

“So I’m kind of like that hamster in the ball, when they let him out and he runs around in the ball. I’m in my little ball right now, running around. It’s kind of a take on On the Waterfront. Like, loosely. The car is exploding and I’m hurt,” the rapper also says.

Other performers announced for the 2010 Video Music Awards are: Drake, Kanye West, Justin Bieber, Paramore and Usher.
