Another Bloodborne gameplay video has made its way to the surface of the Internet, providing us with a better look at some of the fiends we’ll soon be faced with.

Developer From Software prepared an adventure that is similar to its previous titles, Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls, having gamers play the role of a daring adventurer skilled in hand-to-hand combat, and having to measure their prowess against a wide assortment of skills.

The game will feature several mechanics that set it apart from the previous hack-and-slash titles developed by From Software, and will be set in a fictional city based on Victorian-era London.

The plot has you traveling to the mysterious city, searching for a miraculous cure for all ailments said to reside within the walls, only to find a dark force permeating everything and turning the inhabitants into bloodthirsty murderers.

Exciting gameplay and a highly atmospheric setting

The new video comes courtesy of IGN’s month-long coverage of Bloodborne, and it shows a ton of action, featuring the protagonist taking on various monsters and even some of the game’s mini-bosses.

Game Director Hidetaka Miyazaki mentioned that the game would be more accessible, with the focus shifted from mechanical perfection to a heavy atmosphere and engaging encounters.

The emphasis is on a new risk versus reward system, with mechanics that enable players to regain a portion of the life lost upon getting hit by an enemy by retaliating right away.

The video shows what players can expect in terms of opposition when exploring the vast city of Yharnam, but unfortunately, the footage involves a lot of staying still and getting hit by the enemies.

Seeing how a good player is able to perform would have been much more enjoyable, but there is a pretty good variety of content featured, so one can’t really complain.

Bloodborne is coming out on March 24 in North America and March 25 in Europe, headed exclusively to the PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system from Sony.
