The upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive Bloodborn, formerly known as Project Beast, has been the highlight of E3 for many gamers, especially for fans of the Souls series.

The upcoming game is being created by the same team that delivered Demon's Souls and the two Dark Souls games, Japanese video game developer From Software, and is being directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, the mind behind Demon's Souls.

Miyazaki has revealed some more information about the game in an interview with Japanese magazine Dengeki Online, sharing that Bloodborne will benefit from a lot more variation when it comes to character animation, compared to From Software's previous games, mainly because of the fact that the game will only be available on a next-gen console.

He has mentioned that the game will introduce many new mechanics, such as the ability to enhance weapons, but he has kept a tight lid on the specifics of that. Gamers will be able to fully enjoy the game offline, even if that means that they will not get to experience its online features.

Miyazaki has expressed his opinion that online features in all kinds of games are an increasing trend, and has revealed some interesting tidbits about the thing on everyone's mind when talking about any Souls game: death.

"We are still conducting final reviews of the death penalty, though we don't plan on making it quite so severe. While death will occur often in this game, it's important that it both does not place too much stress on the players and still makes them want to take on the challenge again, so we are regulating the death penalty with these things in mind," he has explained.

He has also talked a bit about the combat gameplay mechanics in the upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive title, touching on the addition of the guns and traps:

"This is a bit off-topic, but to make sure the player still wants to give it another go, it's also vital to give them a wide breadth of options in battle. The intention with our design is to provide a rich system that includes weapons such as guns and traps, among others."

"And while I said you will die plenty in this game, we similarly want to give the player the rush of nearly dying or thinking they are about to die, so we are always considering the best ways to govern this balance," Miyazaki has concluded.

In addition to the gameplay-related issues, Miyazaki has also made a very interesting reveal concerning the game's release, telling that Bloodborne will be released simultaneously all around the world.
