Players will need to make quite a few choices

A pretty major leak concerning the upcoming Bloodborne role-playing game for the PS4 has appeared online, this time concerning its actual gameplay, the new covenant system, and what the upcoming alpha stage will consist of.

Bloodborne is one of the most anticipated PS4 titles of early 2015, as famous Japanese developer From Software, which previously made stellar RPGs like Demon's Souls or Dark Souls, is working alongside Sony Japan on a new and a bit more modern role-playing experience.

The new title has already generated a lot of hype around it, thanks to some impressive videos, stellar gameplay demonstrations at trade shows like Gamescom 2014, TGS 2014, or PAX, as well as through the scarce details offered by the game's director, Hidetaka Miyazaki.

Plenty of details have just appeared online

Now, however, way more info about Bloodborne has appeared online, via a Pastebin account that previously leaked the original Project Beast details. Unfortunately, the file has since been deleted, but a copy of its contents is available on Reddit.

The new details span plenty of things, from the online multiplayer portion of Bloodborne to the refined covenant system, not to mention just what's going to be included in the alpha stage for Bloodborne.

Multiplayer is filled with choices and new mechanics

First up, in terms of multiplayer, it will be affected by a major choice that players will make during the early stages of the game. While the actual decision wasn't revealed, players can still choose to infect their blood with different strains of sickness, which all come with advantages and disadvantages.

Bear in mind that the sickness can eventually take over the player's body, provided that he doesn't keep his heart strength up by collecting and using blood vials and packs. The sickness can transform dead players into monsters and even turn them into smaller bosses for others to defeat.

Players can also summon allies via the PS4 friends list, but if you call them in for a boss battle, you can no longer consume healing items during that encounter.

The covenant system provides interesting experiences

From Software has apparently decided to implement a brand new and much more serious covenant system into Bloodborne, as in some of these groups, the sickness is quite strong and players can choose to let their heart be consumed in exchange to binding themselves to that covenant. Players then become a beast and gain access to new controls and attacks.

While the whole system isn't finalized just yet, there will be huge beasts in the game that, once defeated, can provide their blood and their sickness to the player. However, to use that sickness' advantages, players need to keep invading the worlds of others in order to collect the necessary blood.

The alpha stage begins soon and contains a few things

Last but not least, the leaks also tackled the upcoming Bloodborne alpha stage, which is set to kick off in Japan, at least, next month. The test phase contains a cooperative boss battle as well as some simple player-versus-player invasion covenant testing mechanics.

Bear in mind that all this info hasn't been confirmed or denied by From Software, so take it with a grain of salt.

Bloodborne launches in early February for PS4.
