Blogger is continuing to evolve the Dynamic Views it introduced last year, a set of modern layouts and themes for the site. One of the big things missing, so far, has been gadget support. That's no longer the case as the latest update to Dynamic Views enables users to customize their blog with some of the gadgets they've been using with regular templates.

"Dynamic Views are a set of templates that make it easy and fun to explore a blog. As you might expect, we’ve made the gadgets interactive too," Google announced.

"Instead of appearing in a panel that consumes valuable real estate on your blog, gadgets now appear in a dock that slides in and out as you move your cursor over them," it explained.

For now, only several gadgets are supported, but the most popular ones are all in there. There is a Blog Archive gadget, probably the most useful and the most used.

There are gadgets for Followers, so you can check out the readers of any blog, Labels, to make it easier to find the stuff you want, Profile and the classic Link List.

There's also a new gadget dubbed Subscribe, which, as the name implies, enables readers to subscribe to the blog. This new gadget is available only if either Follow by Email or Subscription are activated.

"If you are currently using a traditional template and change to Dynamic Views, supported gadgets will automatically appear on your blog. Gadgets can be added, removed, and customized from the Layouts tab the same as with any other template," Google added.

Now that gadgets are available, the biggest hurdle keeping people from adopting Dynamic Views has been set aside. Google says that millions of blogs have already made the switch and the new feature should see that number grow even further.
