Blogger is now releasing the Template Designer feature it had been testing for a few months to everyone. The feature enables bloggers to choose from some of the predefined templates and customize them in any way they see fit. The tool is designed for those who want more control over what their blog looks like, but who may not be knowledgeable enough to edit a theme’s CSS on their own.

“When we launched the Blogger Template Designer to Blogger in Draft in March, you gave us a lot of feedback and suggestions. Our blog post received nearly 1,000 comments and many of you shared your blog’s new looks on Twitter using #newbloggertemplate,” Blogger’s Chang Kim wrote.

“Since the launch, we fixed many bugs and added even more themes and background images. But the Blogger Template Designer has only been available on Blogger in Draft, which is why we’re excited to announce that the Blogger Template Designer is now available to everyone,” the blog post read.

There are now more templates to get you started, 19 in total, which you can then customize in a number of ways. There a few main templates, each with several variations. Once you picked one that suits your tastes, you can select the color palette from a handful of presets. Of course, you can also pick each individual color. You can also choose from one of the hundreds of background images available.

The last step is picking a layout for your blog and, if you’re satisfied with the results, you’re done, a fresh new look in minutes. You can also dig down into the individual options to tweak things like text font and color. Finally, if things still aren’t perfect you can add your own CSS to override the default layout. This somehow defeats the purpose of a simple template editor, but it’s nice to have options. The new Template Designer is live and available to everyone now.
