Meet-ups will be planned around the world

Blogger is getting ready for its 11th birthday, which makes the venerable blogging platform more like 100, in internet years. If you’re one of those conservatives that still blogs, you may actually be the kind of person to appreciate quaint ‘offline’ activities like parties.

What Blogger is proposing is an old-fashioned blogger meet-up (remember those?) for users around the world. So, get in touch with bloggers nearby, find a suitable location, go out and have some fun. Blogger is even supplying the print-out party hats.

“Last year, Blogger turned ten. We were excited to present you with a (small-but-mighty) bounty of gifts, a token to commemorate all of your contributions over the years,” Blogger’s Seth Shamban wrote. “For Blogger’s 11th birthday, we’re hosting the first ever Blogger global birthday party!”

“We’ll keep it simple—we set the date, you set the parties and Meetup Everywhere will help facilitate (free of charge!). Through the wonder of Meetup Everywhere, you’ll be able to find other bloggers in your area and either join a celebration that has already been set up or start a new party local to you,” he explained.

Blogger is using Meetup.com to organize the parties around the world. So far, because the announcement has just been made, just 13 events have been created, but the number seems to be growing fast.

There’s no size limit, as far as Blogger is concerned, three people is as good as 300. For its part, the blogging service is supplying a downloadable party pack. The PDF document has printable templates for the things you might need for the party, name tags, registration list, party hats and even directional signs for the people to find the “fiesta.”

You can create a new party in your town on the Meetup page, or join one that has already been created. You’ll also be able to organize and flesh-out the details there as well through the site’s commenting system.
