Google is extending Blogger's affiliate feature, making it possible for people in the UK to earn money shilling products. Or, put otherwise, linking to places where people can buy the things the bloggers talk about.
The Affiliate Network was launched in the US on Blogger earlier this year and Google is expanding it to the UK now.
Affiliate links are nothing new, Amazon's affiliate program keeps a lot of bloggers fed. But Google wants in on the pie, especially as it's still running one of the biggest blogging platforms on the planet.
Blogger was Google first acquisition and it's never been much of a money maker. You have to have an AdSense account to get into the program, obviously, and you may notice the Google Affiliate Ads for Blogger gadget when writing new posts.
The gadget won't be available for all, the blog has to fit into the available ad categories to get approved.
