Jason Shellen decided to leave Google

Jason Shellen is one of the employees that joined the Mountain View company when Google acquired Blogger in February 2003. After a long period of time in which Jason worked for the blog service, he also contributed to the evolution of Google Reader and Picasa, two other solutions powered by Google that are now having a considerable number of users. However, he decided to leave the company without any clear plan to join another company. As he says, he was one of the persons who encouraged the Blogger owners to join the Googleplex but he also contributed to other 4 Google acquisitions.

"Despite the fun I've had at Google and the weird looks I'm going to get from people for turning down the free Google food, massages, excellent benefits and the like - I feel I've got that entrepreneurial/start-up bug deep within me and I can't help but think about the next thing. I'm going to take a little time off while I think about what is next (hopefully while surfing and riding my bike in Santa Cruz) but I've decided to leave Google. I have a few ideas but if you have a better one - let me know," the ex-Google employee said.

As you can see in the picture attached to the article and created by Jason Shellen himself, the ex-Google employee was one of the 13.000 employees from the Googleplex who saw no more than 4 major acquisitions. Also, in the 4.5 years spent at Google, he appeared for 2 times on the national television and posted 3 articles on the official Google blog.

"There were times when we felt like royalty and other times when we felt like guinea pigs but all-in-all it has been an amazing ride. I'm very grateful that after joining that I was not only able to contribute on Blogger but to start-up my own product (Google Reader) which by most accounts is now the #1 web-based feed reader," he said.
