Owners of Android-based devices can now download and install a brand new Blockbuster application to access the catalog of more than 100,000 movie and game titles that the company has to offer.

The new mobile application was also designed to provide users with management capabilities over their Blockbuster By Mail queue, as well as to check the availability of new releases at local Blockbuster stores.

The new flavor of the application was built with support for all devices running under Android Gingerbread and newer, and is already available for download through the Google Play Store and via Amazon’s app store.

According to Blockbuster, there are millions of users who prefer DVD and Blu-ray experiences, and all of them can now use their mobile devices to conveniently find the titles they want the most.

“Whether you’re standing in line for a latte or on the train for your evening commute, now you can decide which new release to pick up before you get to the store, and make sure it’s in stock,” said Blockbuster President Michael Kelly.

“And if you’re a Blockbuster By Mail member, the functionality goes even deeper; you can add, re-prioritize and remove movies from your queue. It’s like having the entire 100,000-plus movie catalog at your fingertips, wherever and whenever you want to peruse it.”

The new Android application is available for free and can be downloaded both by existing Blockbuster users and by those who are not yet members of the service.

The software will enable users to search movies and game titles for synopsis, list of stars, available formats and more, to sort results by title, actors and genres, as well as to add, remove and organize items in your queue.

Furthermore, they will be able to manage their in-store membership, find local Blockbuster stores easier, and to check for the availability of specific titles at a local store.

The app comes with support for English and Spanish and will enable members to continue using the Blockbuster streaming application just as they did before.
