Gamers might find real-world products in their fantasy

We already know that video game developer Blizzard is working on a whole new MMO project called Titan, and it seems that the new game will be ready to deliver product placement to a number of partners, probably linked to the video game industry.

The official website of Blizzard has a link to a new job recruitment ad which seeks to fill the position of a franchise development producer.

Apparently, his main task will be to “work with major consumer brands to facilitate product placement and licensing within the world of Blizzard Entertainment’s next-gen MMO that enhances the gameplay experience.”

The person who gets the job will also be heading efforts to license and create merchandise based on Blizzard properties, turning them into books, movies, apparel and action figures.

The fact that real-world products might get placement in Project Titan could mean that the MMO is set in a version of the world we live in.

Of course, there’s also the possibility that Blizzard will carefully select the products that it linked to Titan and will integrate them into a science fiction or even a fantasy setting.

The fact that Blizzard will get a revenue stream from the product might also mean that the company is actively exploring the possibility of making the game free-to-play.

A leak from the Chinese division of Blizzard last year revealed that the company was working on a new MMO project, labeled Titan, and was planning to launch it at some point during 2013, after two more expansions for World of Warcraft had already been launched.

The company did not say what kind of game it was trying to create and how the new release would co-exist with World of Warcraft, at the moment the most successful subscription-based MMO in the world.

More details on the new project may be delivered this fall at the Blizzcon event.
