Video game maker Blizzard announces that it plans to allow all those who have the StarCraft 2′s Starter Edition to get access to all custom maps launched for the game after patch 2.1 is implemented.

The company says that it wants all fans to be able to create content for the real time strategy game and then share it with all their friends, including those who have not bought the title.

StarCraft 2′s Starter Edition is designed to give anyone access to the core mechanics of the game for free.

The Blizzard move is important given the fact that modders have been very creative and managed to create impressive new experiences, like the MMO StarCraft Universe.

The video that the studio released also explains how the new DOTA might emerge from the decision to offer all custom maps for free to those who have StarCraft 2′s Starter Edition.
