World of Warcraft is one of the biggest MMORPG, or Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games, out there. It has over 11 million subscribers worldwide and dominates the market with over 62 %. With the release of its second expansion pack, entitled Wrath of the Lich King, the MMORPG is still doing great and things are only looking up for its developer, Blizzard Entertainment.

A few weeks ago, the largest single developer conference in the world took place in California in honor of the popular studio. Blizzcon was the host of the most recent announcements regarding the upcoming releases from Blizzard, including Starcraft II and Diablo III, part of them we already talked about. But one thing that we didn’t hear about until recently is the next MMO project the studio created for us.

Speaking with Wired, Blizzard CEO and co-founder, Mike Morhaime, revealed a few details about the newest project under development by his studio. Although he only stated that it would be different than WoW, anticipation is growing as to what this new title might be.

“Let’s just say it’s going to be different and it’s not going to be a sequel to World of Warcraft. It will be different. We’re not trying to replace World of Warcraft with this new MMO. We’re trying to create a different massively multiplayer experience, and hopefully World of Warcraft will still be going strong when that one is released.”

One thing’s for sure, as with all things Blizzard creates, it will be popular. There are a huge number of fans out there who are very loyal to the company and can hardly wait to see what other high quality titles it will develop. Only time will reveal more details about this project; until then, we still have to wait for Wrath of the Lich King, the only release with a firm date, November 13.
