Both projects are under development

Blizzard is definitely a busy company these days, as it has just launched the second expansion to one of its most successful games, World of Warcraft, and also has under development sequels to the very popular Diablo and Starcraft franchises.

The two games are massive and certainly require the company to employ a lot of people in the development process. While Blizzard does have a lot of employees, rumors started appearing last summer regarding the creative processes of the two games, as some people hinted that the company would put Starcraft II on hold in favor of getting Diablo III done and shipping it to the massive number of RPG (Role Playing Game) fans out there.

While Blizzard didn't make any official statement at that time, with the launch of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion for WoW, the COO of the company, Paul Sams, tackled this rumor and emphasized the fact that Starcraft II isn't being shelved in favor of Diablo III. When asked if Diablo was more important to Blizzard, Sams had this to say,

“Absolutely not. They are two separate teams entirely. The StarCraft 2 team is the most veteran team at Blizzard. As an example the team lead from StarCraft, the original, is one of the lead engineers on the game. I would say maybe as much as half of that team are among our most seasoned and most veteran players and developers in the entire company. We used to do a lot more of that though when we were smaller, when we were a one product team or a two product company, but that is absolutely not the fact this time”.

These are very reassuring words for all of the Starcraft II fans who have definitely been through rough times, as the company announced some time ago that the future game would be split into three titles in an effort not to keep fans waiting too long.
