Developer Blizzard has posted a job opening that is specifically linked with the console version of Diablo III, looking for a senior producer for the project and looking for someone who has at least 4 years of experience working in the industry and has at least one high profile title launch under his belt.

The responsibilities for the senior producer position on the console Diablo III game include mostly working to coordinate the different teams that are creating different aspects of the game and creating the kind of creative atmosphere that will lead to a successful product launch.

The job announcement is the first official sign from Blizzard that it is actively working on a console version of Diablo III and that it is not only “exploring” the possibility of creating such a product.

The new game in the Diablo series has been officially announced back in 2008 at the Blizzcon event, but since then, despite offering information on character classes and showing the various characters that players will inhabit, Blizzard has refused to talk about a console version for the hack and slash game.

Speaking at the DICE summit Mike Morhaime, the chief executive officer of Blizzard, said, “I think you could make an argument that a game like Diablo might play very well on a console. It’s something that we’re actually doing an investigation into to see if that could make sense.”

The game has a simple enough control scheme to be easily portable to consoles, unlike Starcraft II or World of Warcraft, which are designed with the PC in mind.

Activision, which handles publishing duties for all Blizzard games, has recently said that it does not expect to see Diablo III launched this year, but Blizzard has suggested that development on the game is going full Steam ahead and that it will be launched when it is complete.
