Once again, a LinkedIn profile sneaks a leak. Is Project Titan getting resurrected?

Blizzard might be planning to reveal a new game at this year’s Blizzcon in November, according to a LinkedIn profile stealthily leaking an upcoming reveal in 2014.

The online resume boasts work done on a “top secret project to be unveiled sometime in 2014,” as uncovered by Kotaku.

The company’s elusive Project Titan is what springs to mind, as it was intended as a sci-fi themed massively multiplayer online game to follow in the footsteps of World of Warcraft, but being interrupted somewhere along the way.

Last we heard about Project Titan, Blizzard was cutting down the size of the team working on the title – which they were doing since 2006 – from 100 to a mere 30 people, redistributing the members to work on other company projects.

The last time Blizzard issued any official information on Titan was in August 2013, when company CEO Mike Morhaime informed that the game will change direction from the initial goal, and will not be a subscription-based massively multiplayer online game.

During last year’s BlizzCon, Morhaime mentioned that Titan has become something very different from what the company first set out to do. He did state that the team had gone through the same kind of process in the past, and that they remain committed to the quality of the project.

Several other clues pointed to Blizzard trying their hand at more Hearthstone-type of undertakings, with smaller development teams working on less costly projects that are smaller in scope, such as the upcoming multiplayer online battle arena game Heroes of the Storm.

In addition to this, several job listings had some key phrases such as “competitive multiplayer games,” and the company was also looking for an artist with experience in rendering vehicles and mechanical characters.

Blizzard has also filed a trademark for “Overwatch” last month, in addition to a listing for a lead to work on “an unannounced game title” surfacing, so the upcoming announcement might be related to something else entirely.

That’s the exciting part. Unfortunately, an “unannounced game title” could also mean that Blizzard will be unveiling another expansion for World of Warcaft or Diablo 3, or even one for their most recent creation, Hearthstone.

Which wouldn’t actually be that bad after all, but it remains to be seen at this year’s edition on BlizzCon, taking place on November 7-8, at the Anaheim Convention Center in Southern California.

By the way, the second batch of tickets for BlizzCon 2014 has just gone on sale today, May 10.
