Blizzard Offers Downloadable Diablo II: Lord of Destruction

Mac owners who provide an existing Blizzard game CD key can download a fresh copy of their games

Blizzard entertainment is now offering Mac and PC users the chance to back-up their library of titles by entering an existing Blizzard game CD key. As such, gamers can grab a fresh downloadable copy of their favorite Blizzard game at no extra charge.

The developer's Accounts section has recently been updated, Inside Mac Games is reporting, providing "registered users" with the option to access "a digital download version of Diablo II and its expansion, Lord of Destruction." As simple as it sounds, all you need to do, in order to download this Blizzard game (the offer isn't limited to Diablo II: Lord of Destruction), is enter your official CD key for a Blizzard game you own.

"Your Blizzard Account is now the main place for you to enter Blizzard's Beta-Test Eligibility Lists. So make sure you setup an account and tick the box inside your Email settings to enter yourself into the Blizzard Beta Lottery. [...] A major new function now available is the ability to download copies of Blizzard games that you have previously purchased," Blizzard says.

You need to log into your account page and then go to the Games tab. There you'll be able to input the CD-Keys from the following Blizzard titles: StarCraft, StarCraft Battlechest, StarCraft Anthology, Warcraft III, Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, Warcraft Battlechest, Diablo II, Diablo II: Lord of Destruction, Diablo II Battlechest and World of WarCraft. However, WoW client downloads are still handled through the WoW website, Blizzard claims.

Since many of you are probably after the Diablo II expansion (now that you have one more reason to pick up the game again), 'Lord of Destruction' sports the following new additions:

- Two new character classes (the Assassin and the Druid) each with 30 unique skills/spells
- One new Act set in the Barbarian Highlands
- Many new monster types, including bosses and uniques
- Interactive environments, such as siege towers and fortified battlements
- Thousands of new weapons, armor and magical items, including class-specific quest items
- New recipes for the Horadric Cube
- Increased Stash Size
- Supports 800x600 Resolution

Head over to Blizzard's Account page to log in and download a new copy of your favorite Blizzard game now. There is no limit to how many times you can download the game.
