Blizzard has confirmed that it has lifted some of the harsh restrictions imposed on new owners of Diablo 3’s digital edition, allowing them to progress past level 13 and finish Act 1 of the story.

Diablo 3 was launched over a month ago and, since then, Blizzard has been trying to keep it and its Battle.net system as secure as possible.

Sadly, this hasn’t prevented hackers from breaking into accounts and stealing gold and items from players.

In order to slow down the tide of hacks, last week the studio imposed a set of restrictions on anyone who had just purchased the digital edition of Diablo 3, some of which were quite harsh.

These restrictions were supposed to be lifted in at most 72 hours after Blizzard inspected the transaction, but they still caused some serious backlash among customers who found that, even if they paid good money, they weren’t able to progress through the story with their character.

Now, after close inspections, Blizzard has confirmed that the level and story restrictions for new Diablo 3 owners has been lifted.

Even so, many restrictions are still in place, so check them out below.

- No public game access for unverified digital purchasers - No auction house access (real-money or gold) for unverified digital purchasers - Unverified digital purchasers cannot trade items or drop items for other players to receive - Unverified digital purchasers are not able to chat in any public or game channels - Unverified digital purchasers cannot attach a custom message to friend requests, but they can send/accept friend requests, and play with their friends - Global Play is not available for unverified digital purchasers Blizzard says that it’s working hard to raise the restrictions on new customers as soon as possible but, in order to keep everything secure, it’s a process that mustn’t be rushed.
